
Mumbai, 11 June (HS): Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik on Thursday announced
hike in Dearness Allowance for Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation
employees from present 53% to 58%. The hike would benefit about 86,000 MSRTC
employees. With the DA hike decision in increase the Housing Rent Allowance
(HRA) was also announced.
Sarnaik
made the announcement during a meeting with the representatives of MSRTC
Employees Unions at Mumbai. A discussion about other demands of the employees
was also held. Initially Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde extended best
wishes to employees and advised them to work hard to strengthen the state
transport system.
Sarnaik
said that DA for the MSRTC employees will be given as and when it is revised
for the State Government employees. The arrears will be paid in instalments. A
meeting with the Chief Minister and both Deputy Chief Ministers with the unions
will be convened soon, he added.
So
far about 3500 new buses have been added to the fleet and the government plans
to replace all buses with e-buses by 2035. The charging stations all over the
state are being erected.
A
committee with representatives of all the unions will be formed to suggest
measures for improving revenue of the State Transport. The employees should
follow the ruled meticulously for safety of the passengers, under the
directions of Chief Security and Vigilance Officer Priyanka Narnavre
MSRTC
Managing Director Dr Madhav Kusekar, and Priyanka Narnavre were also present in
the meeting.
