
Guwahati, 11 June (HS): Assam Police achieved another major success in its ongoing drive against narcotics, seizing a large quantity of illegal drugs valued at approximately ₹6.4 crore during operations conducted in Sribhumi district.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday that despite attempts by drug traffickers to smuggle contraband into the state, law enforcement agencies foiled their plans through sustained anti-drug operations.
According to official information by CM Sarma, Sribhumi Police recovered 20,000 YABA tablets and 14,100 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup during the crackdown. Two alleged drug traffickers were arrested in connection with the seizure.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government's “Assam Against Drugs” drive would continue with full force, emphasizing that authorities remain committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks and protecting communities from the menace of narcotics.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to identify links within the trafficking network and trace the source of the seized contraband.-------------
