New Delhi, 10 June (H.S.): India’s domestic equity market traded with a positive bias during early dealings on Wednesday, with both benchmark indices posting gains after overcoming initial selling pressure.

The market opened on a mixed and largely flat note. Soon after trading began, selling pressure briefly dragged both the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty lower. However, renewed buying interest emerged shortly thereafter, helping the indices recover and move firmly into positive territory.

By 10:00 a.m., the Sensex was trading 0.64 per cent higher, while the Nifty had gained 0.52 per cent.

Among the major gainers during early trade were Hindustan Unilever, Nestlé India, Reliance Industries, Tata Consumer Products and Asian Paints, with their shares advancing between 1.02 per cent and 2.68 per cent.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries, Infosys, Eternal, Adani Enterprises and Shriram Finance were among the notable laggards, declining between 0.56 per cent and 3.19 per cent.

Market breadth remained positive. Out of 2,723 actively traded stocks, 1,607 were trading in the green, while 1,116 were in negative territory.

Within the 30-share Sensex pack, 19 stocks were trading higher on buying support, while 11 stocks remained under selling pressure. In the Nifty 50 index, 30 stocks were advancing and 20 were trading lower.

The BSE Sensex opened 69.51 points higher at 73,988.27. Soon after the opening bell, profit-booking pushed the index down to an intraday low of 73,897.83, briefly slipping into negative territory. Fresh buying then emerged, enabling the index to recover sharply and regain positive momentum.

Amid continued buying activity, the Sensex was trading 475.44 points higher at 74,394.20 by 10:00 a.m.

In contrast, the NSE Nifty opened 8.15 points lower at 23,233.95. Selling pressure at the opening dragged the index to an intraday low of 23,217.30. However, sustained buying support helped the benchmark recover quickly and move into positive territory.

Within the first half-hour of trading, the Nifty climbed to an intraday high of 23,384.45. Although mild profit-booking later trimmed some gains, the overall trend remained positive. By 10:00 a.m., the index was trading at 23,363.

In the previous trading session on Tuesday, the Sensex had closed 394.50 points, or 0.54 per cent, higher at 73,918.76. The Nifty ended the session with a gain of 119.10 points, or 0.52 per cent, at 23,242.10.
