Goalpara (Assam), 10 June (HS): Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Barua, shortly after assuming charge as the Guardian Minister of Goalpara district, announced that eviction drives in the district will continue with a major focus on freeing nearly five lakh bighas of forest land from alleged illegal encroachment.
Addressing officials and stakeholders, the minister stated that the government remains committed to protecting forest land and ensuring that encroached areas are restored through lawful administrative measures.
In another significant decision, Baruah directed the district administration to resolve a three-year-old pending pension issue faced by the family of a deceased teacher from Goalpara. Acting on the minister’s instructions, the district administration reportedly took swift steps and initiated the process to settle the long-pending matter.
The minister’s interventions mark one of the first major administrative actions taken after assuming responsibility as the Guardian Minister of the district.------------
