
Guwahati, 10 June (HS): Assam Minister Ashok Singhal on Wednesday formally assumed charge at the Health Department office located in E-Block of Janata Bhawan, Dispur. The minister entered the office after offering prayers and performing a traditional puja.
Speaking to reporters after taking charge, Singhal said the government remains committed to preserving Assam’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Referring to the state as the sacred land of great saints and the abode of Maa Kamakhya, he asserted that there is no place for “jihad” in Assam.
The minister stated that “jihad cannot exist here” and claimed that Sanatan values would provide an alternative to such ideologies. He further said the government would take necessary measures to eliminate any form of “jihad” from the state.
His remarks came shortly after assuming his new responsibilities as a minister in the Assam government.---------------
