NEET Paper Leak Case: CBI Director, NTA Chief Appear Before Parliamentary Panel


New Delhi, May 29 (H.S.): National Testing Agency Director General Abhishek Singh and Central Bureau of Investigation Director Praveen Sood on Friday appeared before Parliament’s Committee on Government Assurances in connection with the alleged leak of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026 question paper. The officials briefed the parliamentary panel on the alleged irregularities in the examination and the progress of the ongoing investigation.

The parliamentary committee, chaired by Rajya Sabha member M. Thambidurai, comprises 11 members, including the chairman. The meeting was presided over by Thambidurai and was also attended by the Secretary of the Higher Education Department under the Ministry of Education.

The committee sought detailed information regarding the investigation into the NEET-UG question paper leak case and the action taken so far.

Along with CBI Director Praveen Sood, senior officials of the agency, including officers at the levels of Special Director, Additional Director, and Joint Director, also attended the meeting. The officials briefed the panel on the investigation into the alleged paper leak, arrests made so far, and action being carried out across different states.

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh informed the committee about the conduct of the examination, existing security arrangements, and measures being implemented to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.

Notably, the alleged NEET-UG paper leak case has triggered widespread concern and debate across political and academic circles in the country. The investigation into the matter is currently being conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The CBI has so far arrested 13 individuals in connection with the case.
