New Delhi, May 28 (H.S.): The festival of Eid al-Adha was celebrated across the national capital Delhi on Thursday with deep devotion and reverence. Early in the morning, Eid prayers were offered at Eidgahs and mosques, following which the ritual sacrifice of animals was performed.

Special prayers were offered at Eidgahs and mosques for world peace, the progress of the nation, and prosperity for all. At the historic Shahi Jama Masjid, Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari led the Eid prayers. In his special address, he highlighted the significance of Eid al-Adha and thanked the police administration for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the prayers. He also appealed to the Muslim community to remain considerate towards their neighbours while celebrating the festival and to maintain cleanliness.

At the Shahi Fatehpuri Mosque, Imam Dr. Mufti Mukarram Ahmed led the Eid al-Adha prayers. During his address, he spoke about the current global situation and offered special prayers for peace across the world, as well as for the nation’s progress and prosperity.

A large number of Muslims also gathered at the Eidgah located on Rani Jhansi Road to offer prayers. Eid prayers were also held at the Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and Dargah Hazrat Bakhtiyar Kaki. Jamia Millia Islamia and Jamia Hamdard also organised Eid prayers, where a large number of devotees participated.

Prayers were likewise organised at mosques situated within the headquarters of several major Muslim organisations. In addition, thousands of Muslims offered Eid prayers at mosques across various parts of the capital. Following the prayers, the ritual animal sacrifice was carried out.
