New Delhi, May 28 (H.S.): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay arrived in Delhi on Wednesday (May 27) for his first visit to the national capital after assuming office as Chief Minister. During the visit, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman before departing for Chennai this morning.

Questions had begun to arise over Vijay not meeting any Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, or Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, during his maiden Delhi visit. Putting an end to the speculation, Rajya Sabha member M. Christopher Tilak stated that the Congress leadership was occupied with matters related to Karnataka and Jharkhand. He added that Chief Minister Vijay would visit Delhi again soon and would meet Congress leaders during that trip.

Speaking to journalists, M. Christopher Tilak said that Vijay’s Delhi visit was entirely official in nature and that meetings with Congress leaders could not take place due to their busy schedules. He said Vijay decided to return after meeting the Prime Minister, and assured that meetings with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi would definitely take place during his next visit to the capital.
