New Delhi, May 25 (H.S.): Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the Central Government of imposing an increasing economic burden on the public amid the continued rise in petrol and diesel prices. In a post on X, he said fuel prices had been increased for the fourth time in the past 10 days, directly affecting the savings of ordinary citizens.

Kharge stated that petrol prices have risen by ₹7.35 per litre and diesel prices by ₹7.53 per litre over the past few days. He alleged that the government’s policies were adversely impacting public savings and claimed that the administration was “robbing people of their hard-earned savings.”

Referring to international crude oil prices, the Congress chief asserted that there had not been any proportionate increase in global crude rates to justify the hike in domestic fuel prices. Despite this, he said, fuel rates in the domestic market continue to be raised.

Kharge also highlighted the increase in petrol and diesel prices compared to 2014, stating that the rising costs were having the greatest impact on the middle class, farmers, and small business owners.
