New Delhi, May 22 (H.S.): Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Indraprastha, has welcomed the strict and clear guidelines issued by the Delhi Government regarding the upcoming Bakrid festival, describing them as an excellent step taken in the interest and convenience of the general public.

In an official statement issued on Friday, Surendra Gupta, Provincial Minister of VHP Indraprastha, said that the decisions taken by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra keeping public interest, cleanliness and law and order in mind are highly commendable.

Referring to the directives issued by the government, he stated that declaring the sacrifice of cattle, cows, calves, camels and other prohibited animals as completely illegal, along with provisions for criminal action against violators, reflects genuine respect for the cultural and religious sentiments of Hindu society.

The VHP also described the decision to prohibit animal sacrifice in public places, lanes and roads, while permitting it only at authorised locations, as a significant step for the convenience of ordinary citizens.

Surendra Gupta further said that the complete ban on dumping waste generated after animal sacrifice into sewers, drains or open spaces would help prevent the spread of diseases in the national capital.

He added that the provision allowing members of the public to directly inform the police and the Delhi Government’s Development Department in case of violations would create a sense of fear of law among offenders.

Gupta also assured that the VHP would fully cooperate with the Delhi Government and the police administration in ensuring compliance with these rules and in spreading awareness within society.
