
Mumbai, 21 May (HS): Three MoUs were
signed at Mumbai's Sahyadri Guest House on Thursday in the presence of Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis. The MoUs were signed between the Department of Skill
Development and Korea Polytechnics of South Korea, Maharashtra State Skill
Development Institute, National Institute for Lifelong Education of South
Korea, Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University and two branches of
reputed institutes of South Korea.
Skill Development
Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma and
other senior officials of the department were present. The
Chief Minister said that the Skill Development Department has taken a major
step to harness the innovation potential of India's population and young
generation for the development of the country. India has the advantage of vast
geography and population. About 65 per cent of the country's population is
below the age of 35 and this section is our biggest strength. It is our prime
objective to convert the innovation potential of this class into 'human
resources'.
Maharashtra is the
growth engine of the country's economy. The state's economy is currently worth
$660 billion and is targeted to reach $1 trillion soon. To achieve this goal,
the industrial ecosystem needs human resources with excellent skills at all
levels. This international skill agreement will give a new impetus to the
economic progress of Maharashtra. This agreement will be put into practice soon. This historic collaboration will
provide skilled manpower to industries and create new employment opportunities
for Indian youth globally, he added.
