Mumbai, 21 May (HS): Three MoUs were

signed at Mumbai's Sahyadri Guest House on Thursday in the presence of Chief Minister

Devendra Fadnavis. The MoUs were signed between the Department of Skill

Development and Korea Polytechnics of South Korea, Maharashtra State Skill

Development Institute, National Institute for Lifelong Education of South

Korea, Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University and two branches of

reputed institutes of South Korea.

Skill Development

Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma and

other senior officials of the department were present. The

Chief Minister said that the Skill Development Department has taken a major

step to harness the innovation potential of India's population and young

generation for the development of the country. India has the advantage of vast

geography and population. About 65 per cent of the country's population is

below the age of 35 and this section is our biggest strength. It is our prime

objective to convert the innovation potential of this class into 'human

resources'.

Maharashtra is the

growth engine of the country's economy. The state's economy is currently worth

$660 billion and is targeted to reach $1 trillion soon. To achieve this goal,

the industrial ecosystem needs human resources with excellent skills at all

levels. This international skill agreement will give a new impetus to the

economic progress of Maharashtra. This agreement will be put into practice soon. This historic collaboration will

provide skilled manpower to industries and create new employment opportunities

for Indian youth globally, he added.
