
New Delhi, 16 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of the state’s 51st Statehood Day, saying the Himalayan state’s contribution to India’s development is deeply valued. He said the milestone comes at a meaningful moment, as Sikkim completes its year-long 50th Statehood celebrations and enters a new phase of progress.
In his message, PM Modi described the occasion as sacred and joyous, and recalled his recent visit to Sikkim during the golden jubilee celebrations. He said the warmth and affection he received from the people would remain a lasting memory.
The Prime Minister said the Centre would continue to support Sikkim’s growth, particularly in tourism, infrastructure, connectivity and economic development. He also highlighted the state’s achievements in organic farming, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and social harmony.
PM Modi noted that Sikkim has earned a special place in the country through its cultural richness, ecological balance and steady progress. He said the next 25 years would be crucial for the state as it moves towards its 75th year of statehood and India approaches its centenary of independence.
