Guwahati, 16 May (HS): Assam on Saturday marked a significant step in digital banking innovation with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurating the country’s first AI-powered digital branch of Slice Small Finance Bank at Dispur in Guwahati.

Equipped with artificial intelligence and UPI-enabled technology, the newly launched branch has been designed to deliver fast and paperless banking services through a fully digital ecosystem. The facility includes self-service kiosks, a cash deposit ATM, and instant account opening services aimed at reducing customer wait time and improving accessibility.

Located at GS Point on GS Road in Sarumataria, opposite the Dispur Fire Station near Sachivalaya, the branch allows customers to open savings accounts, apply for fixed deposits, carry out UPI-based transactions and access multiple banking products through digital interfaces without conventional paperwork.

The launch also reflects the expansion strategy of North East Small Finance Bank following its merger with Slice, which led to the creation of an integrated full-stack banking platform combining fintech innovation with traditional banking infrastructure.

Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen digital financial inclusion in the region while promoting technology-driven banking services across Assam and the Northeast.-----------
