New Delhi, 16 May (H.S.):
Delhi state president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Saurabh Bhardwaj, on Saturday met the family of a NEET (UG) aspirant in Lajpat Nagar who died by suicide after the exam was cancelled.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Bhardwaj said the victim had been preparing for admission to MBBS for several years and that this was her final opportunity. He said she was deeply distressed after reports of the paper leak surfaced and was under severe mental stress. In the end, she hanged herself at home and died by suicide.
Bhardwaj said similar incidents are now being reported from different parts of the country. He appealed to the Central Government to take strict and concrete action.
He said it was completely wrong to arrest a mere professor and present him as the “mastermind” of the entire case. He added that the real masterminds are powerful and influential people working behind the scenes.
The AAP leader said the Central Government should reassure young people that no examination paper will be leaked from now on.
Saurabh Bhardwaj also demanded that the Central Government appeal to the youth not to take such extreme and life-ending steps.
Seeking a fair and swift investigation into the matter, the AAP leader said the दोषियों should face strict punishment.
