Chandigarh, 14 May (H.S.) On Thursday late night a Pakistani drone was recovered from the
India-Pakistan border area in Fazilka district. According to
officials, after receiving information about a drone crash in the fields of Chakk
Bajida village, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police
immediately sealed the area and launched a joint search operation.
During the search, security teams recovered a drone from the fields.
Following the recovery, Sadar Jalalabad Police Station
registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Gurnam Singh, in-charge of Ghubaya police post, said that
police reached the spot after receiving information from the BSF and cordoned
off the entire area. He added that the drone was found in wheat field and was
taken into custody for further investigation.
Police suspect that the drone may have been returning after dropping a
consignment of heroin across the border but crashed in the fields due to
battery failure or a technical malfunction.
Police and intelligence agencies are now investigating the matter thoroughly
to identify the intended recipients of the consignment and uncover the
smuggling network behind the operation.
