Bhubaneswar, 14 May (H.S.): In a significant administrative reform aimed at strengthening frontline policing, the Odisha Police has decided to withdraw personnel currently engaged in clerical and office-related assignments and redeploy them to field duties across the state.
The directive has been issued by Director General of Police Y B Khurania with the objective of ensuring optimal utilisation of trained police manpower for operational responsibilities.
According to the order, constables posted in clerical roles at the Police Headquarters and other police establishments in Odisha will be relieved from administrative duties. The decision primarily impacts personnel from Armed Battalions who have been serving on deputation in various offices for extended periods.
The DGP has instructed that all such deputed constables be returned to their respective parent battalions by May 31. The move is expected to improve manpower management, enhance operational readiness, and strengthen the efficiency of battalion units across the state.
Officials said the restructuring is intended to ensure that trained security personnel are deployed more effectively in field operations rather than administrative work.
