Bhubaneswar, 14 May (H.S.): The Odisha government is likely to introduce a series of fuel conservation measures amid the ongoing petrol and diesel supply concerns in the state. Restrictions on the use of government vehicles and mandatory use of public transport in certain cases are among the measures under consideration.
Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Thursday said the state government is preparing to take several important decisions at the official level in response to the prevailing situation.
Speaking on the issue, Garg stated that the government has already initiated multiple steps to regulate fuel consumption. She informed that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has reduced the size of his official cavalcade by half as part of the fuel-saving efforts. Several senior officials have also adopted similar measures.
The Chief Secretary further said that guidelines may soon be issued for government officers and employees regarding fuel usage and the operation of official vehicles. Restrictions on the use of government vehicles are also likely to be implemented.
In addition, the government is considering making the use of public transport mandatory in certain situations to reduce fuel consumption.
“Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has reduced his cavalcade. Several other officials have also taken similar measures. More decisions will be taken today, which will be informed later,” Garg said.
