Lucknow,
14 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh
Kumar Khanna, in response to the Prime Minister's appeal to reduce petrol and
diesel consumption and Chief Minister Yogi's expectations, used a bicycle to
travel from his official residence at 10 Kalidas Marg to his office at the
Vidhan Sabha on Thursday.
He
said that keeping in mind the idea of reducing diesel and petrol consumption
as per the expectations of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, he will
now use a bicycle to go to his office at least once every week.
Khanna
said that it is our national responsibility to conserve fuels like diesel and
petrol, as these are the most expensive fuels. Approximately 85 to 86 percent
of the country's oil is imported, which consumes a significant amount of
foreign exchange. He added that given international developments, this is the
need of the hour.
