Srinagar, 14 May (H.S.): Continuing its intensified campaign against drug trafficking and the narcotics ecosystem, Anantnag Police on Wednesday carried out a major anti-encroachment operation in Larnoo area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
During a joint drive at Gawran Larnoo conducted in coordination with the Revenue Department and Forest Department, police demolished twin illegal shop structures allegedly belonging to two notorious drug peddlers identified as Asif Ali Pala son of Ali Mohammad Pala and Nisar Ahmad Kasana son of Bashir Ahmad Kasana, both residents of Mathindoo, Larnoo.
Officials said the structures had been illegally raised on encroached forest land at Gawran, following which authorities initiated demolition action as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics crackdown.
Police said the move is part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling the entire narcotics network by targeting not only drug peddlers but also the illegal assets and infrastructure allegedly created through proceeds of criminal activities.
Reiterating its commitment to making the district drug-free, Anantnag Police warned that strict legal action will continue against all individuals involved in drug trafficking or supporting narcotics-related activities.
