Guwahati, 13 May (HS): The bail petition of Shyamkannu Mahanta, the prime accused in the Zubeen Garg murder case, is scheduled to come up for hearing on Wednesday before the Gauhati High Court.

Mahanta approached the High Court after his bail applications were rejected multiple times by the Fast Track Court. The case has continued to draw attention in legal circles due to its sensitivity and public interest.

According to sources, arguments from both the prosecution and the defence are expected to be presented before the court during today’s hearing.

Notably, in April this year, after hearing submissions from both sides on the chargesheet, the Fast Track Court had reserved its order on Mahanta’s bail plea before ultimately rejecting it on April 30. The bail plea of another prime accused, Siddharth Sharma, had also earlier been rejected by the Fast Track Court.------------
