
Sonbhadra, 13 May (HS): A wedding
celebration turned sad when a pickup truck carrying wedding guests toppled in
Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district, killing three and injuring 13, authorities
said Wednesday. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Rishabh
Runwal, the accident happened late Tuesday night in the Rampur Barkonia police
station area near Kathar village.
A wedding procession from neighboring Mirzapur's
Madihan district was on its way to Sonbhadra when the driver lost control,
forcing the vehicle to topple, he added.
According to the officer, up to 15 persons were transported to the district
hospital, where physicians declared Rajan Gond (20), Ajay Gond (18), and Vinod
Gond (35), all Madihan residents, dead while being treated. Two of the injured were sent to a hospital in
Varanasi when their condition deteriorated, while the others are receiving
treatment, according to police. Runwal stated that the bodies had been
transferred for post-mortem examinations.
