Lucknow, 13 May

(HS): Following the unexpected

death of Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav

and stepbrother of SP head Akhilesh Yadav, the BJP and the Samajwadi Party

canceled their political activities in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Prateek

Yadav, 38, became unwell and was admitted to Lucknow's Civil Hospital in the

early hours of Wednesday, when doctors proclaimed him dead. Following Prateek

Yadav's death, the BJP announced that district-level rallies by women workers

across the state on Wednesday would be postponed.

According to a party statement, Uttar

Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary instructed that the activities be

postponed due to the sudden death of Prateek Yadav, the spouse of BJP

politician and Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission vice-chairperson Aparna

Yadav.

The Samajwadi

Party has also postponed its planned political activities for the day.

According to party sources, activities including Akhilesh Yadav, his wife and

party MP Dimple Yadav, senior SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav, and other

office-bearers have been cancelled due to the Yadav family's mourning. Prateek

Yadav was a member of Mulayam Singh Yadav's political family, but he was not

active in politics. His wife, Aparna Bisht Yadav, has joined the BJP and is

currently the vice chairperson of the state Women's Commission.

Leaders from many

parties expressed their condolences on the death of Prateek Yadav. Shivpal Singh

Yadav characterized the loss as exceedingly sad and prayed for peace for the

departed soul. Deputy Chief Minister

Keshav Prasad Maurya extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed

for their strength to bear the loss.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remarked

in a post on X, “The sudden demise of Shri Prateek Yadav Ji, son of former

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, 'Padma Vibhushan', the late Mulayam Singh

Yadav Ji, and husband of Smt. Aparna Yadav Ji, Vice-Chairperson of the Uttar

Pradesh State Women's Commission, is extremely heartbreaking. Humble tribute. My

condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to Lord Shri Ram that the

departed soul attains eternal peace and the grieving family is granted the

strength to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti!”

Another deputy

chief minister, Brajesh Pathak, described the news as exceedingly sorrowful and

prayed for peace for the departed soul. Pankaj Chaudhary, the Uttar Pradesh BJP

president, expressed empathy with the bereaved family. Former BJP MP Brij

Bhushan Sharan Singh characterized the news as heartbreaking and unfortunate. Ajay

Rai, the Uttar Pradesh Congress chairman, expressed grief on the tragic death

of a Yadav family member.

Singh Chauhan, chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Women Commission, expressed

sadness over Prateek's premature demise while visiting his home to meet his

wife, Aparna Yadav. Chauhan responded briefly to media questions regarding the

circumstances surrounding the death, saying, These days, one hears

heartbreaking stories of individuals dying of heart attacks at a very early

age.” Aparna Yadav serves as the State Women Commission's vice-chairperson.
