Upadhyay pledges to save fuel
Swadeshi and fuel saving are the only solutions amidst global crisis: Minister
Yogendra Upadhyay
Lucknow, 13 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay
welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fuel conservation and the
adoption of indigenous products in the national interest, calling it a need of
the hour. He said that the Prime Minister's visionary approach will strengthen
the country in this time of global turmoil.
Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that, in accordance with Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath's instructions, state government ministers and officials are also
committed to reducing fuel consumption and conserving natural resources by
adopting this campaign. He himself has pledged to use public transportation
once a week and prioritize indigenous goods.
He further stated that to prevent unnecessary fuel consumption, most upcoming
meetings and events will be conducted virtually. Physical attendance will be
ensured only for absolutely essential events. Workers have also been urged to
maximize the use of e-vehicles and public transport to save fuel.
The Higher Education Minister stated that he had already been in favor of
limited vehicle use under government protocols, but following appeals from the
Prime Minister and Chief Minister, he had decided to enforce this more
strictly. He added that prioritizing work from home and virtual meetings would
not only save fuel but also ensure better utilization of time and resources.
Yogendra Upadhyaya stated that in the current global environment, the prices of
foreign goods are rising. In such a situation, adopting Swadeshi is not only
economically beneficial but will also strengthen the country's self-reliance.
Describing the Prime Minister's initiative as extremely important in the
national interest, he appealed to the public to participate in it. He said that
conserving fuel and natural resources is everyone's responsibility in the
national interest, and public participation is essential for this.
