Imphal, 13 May (HS): The Manipur Police Headquarters on Wednesday clarified that viral social media posts claiming a Kuki village in Manipur was set ablaze are false, stating that the incident actually took place in neighbouring Myanmar.
According to an official statement issued by the police administration, reports regarding houses being torched in Molnoi Kuki village began circulating widely on various social media platforms at around 3 pm on May 12. However, police sources confirmed that Molnoi Kuki village is located in Myanmar, nearly 2 kilometres from Border Pillar (BP) No. 113 in Kamjong district along the India-Myanmar border.
The police further stated that the incident has no connection with India or Manipur and urged people not to spread misleading information on social media.
Officials noted that repeated attempts are being made to disturb peace and public order in Manipur through the circulation of false and provocative content online. The state government, police administration and security forces are continuously working to curb misinformation and maintain law and order in the state.---------------
