
Mohali, 13 May (H.S.): In a landmark moment for Punjab’s education sector, three girl students created history by securing a perfect score of 500 out of 500 marks in the Class 12 board examinations, the results of which were declared on Tuesday by the Punjab School Education Board.
Supneet Kaur of Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School, Ubbha in Mansa topped the Science stream with a flawless score of 500/500. Suhani Chauhan of BCM Senior Secondary School, HM 150, Jamalpur Colony, Focal Point, Ludhiana secured the second position in the Humanities stream with 500/500 marks, while Divanshi of Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Shimlapuri, Ludhiana bagged the third position, also in Humanities, with a perfect score. Notably, all three toppers are also promising sportspersons.
A total of 2,65,417 students appeared for the annual examinations, out of which 2,42,755 students passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 91.46 per cent.
Among the streams, Commerce recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.78 per cent, with 34,074 out of 34,496 students clearing the examination. Science followed closely with a pass percentage of 98.47 per cent, where 55,593 out of 56,456 students passed.
In the Humanities stream, 1,45,179 out of 1,65,457 students cleared the exams, registering a pass percentage of 87.74 per cent. Meanwhile, the Vocational stream recorded an 87.80 per cent pass percentage, with 7,909 out of 9,008 students passing the examination.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the results reflect the hard work of students, the dedication of teachers and the education reforms introduced by the government led by Bhagwant Mann.
Congratulating the toppers, Bains said multiple students securing perfect scores across different streams was a proud moment for Punjab and reflected the positive transformation taking place in the state’s education system.
