Kolkata, 13 May (H.S.) : Mamata Banerjee has reportedly advised the All India Trinamool Congress to reorganise and strengthen its IT cell with renewed focus after analysing the lessons from the 2026 Assembly elections.
A key meeting involving members of the party’s IT cell was held at Kalighat on Tuesday in the presence of Mamata Banerjee and other senior party leaders. During the meeting, a new six-member core committee was constituted to oversee the party’s digital and social media operations.
The newly formed team includes representatives from the younger generation of the party, such as Upasana Chowdhury, Debangshu Bhattacharya and Sourav Das.
According to party sources, Mamata Banerjee emphasised the need to build a more effective and organised IT team ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. She reportedly instructed the new core committee to begin work immediately and focus on countering misinformation and political propaganda on digital platforms.
Sources within the party also indicated that Mamata Banerjee may hold another meeting on Friday with district-level and state-level party leaders. The meeting is expected to include a detailed review of the recent election results and discussions on the party’s future organisational strategy and programmes.
