Kolkata, 13 May (H.S.) : The West Bengal government on Wednesday effected a major administrative reshuffle in the Health and Family Welfare Department, reallocating responsibilities among several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, according to an official order.

The notification stated that the changes have been made “in supersession of all previous orders,” indicating a complete restructuring of duties within the department.

Under the new arrangement, Secretary Shubhanjan Das has been assigned key portfolios including the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Swasthya Sathi scheme, drug and equipment-related matters, along with medical education and infrastructure development in medical colleges.

Another Secretary, Sharad Kumar Dwivedi, will oversee tertiary cancer centres, AYUSH, information technology services, strategic planning, and proposals related to public-private partnerships.

Secretary Moumita Godara Basu has been entrusted with the National Health Mission, family welfare programmes, and management of hospitals across the state, including district, sub-divisional, and super-speciality facilities. She will also supervise public health initiatives related to dengue and malaria, as well as projects under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), World Bank-supported schemes, and the 15th Finance Commission.

Senior Special Secretary K. Radhika Aiyar has been given charge of the State AIDS Prevention and Control Society and the State Blood Transfusion Council.

Senior Special Secretary Sudeshna Gupta will handle audit-related matters, the appellate authority under the Right to Information Act, and issues connected with the Medical Council.

Senior Special Secretary Chaitali Chakrabarti has been assigned responsibilities covering general administration, assembly and parliamentary affairs, transport, logistics, and protocol, along with additional charge as Managing Director of the West Bengal Medical Services Corporation Ltd (WBMSCL).

Senior Special Secretary Dr. Preeti Goyal will oversee schemes including Ayushman Bharat–PMJAY, mental health initiatives, the Chokher Alo programme, and the student credit card scheme.

Special Secretary Dhivya Loganathan has been entrusted with nursing services, trauma care facilities, AYUSH councils, and road safety-related matters.

Special Secretary Unice Rishin Ismail will supervise IT services, call centres, World Bank-funded projects, and the civil registration system.

A senior health department official said the reshuffle aims to ensure better coordination and smoother implementation of ongoing health programmes and infrastructure projects across the state.
