Imphal, 13 May (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police have intensified operations across the state to maintain peace and law and order, leading to the arrest of four rebels from different areas over last 24 hours.

According to an official statement issued by the Manipur Police Headquarters on Wednesday, security personnel on May 12 apprehended a hard-core cadre of the banned outfit PREPAK, identified as Nepram Dijamani Meitei (52), a resident of Bashikhong Torban Leikai in Imphal East district. He was arrested from the Kanchipur Super Market area under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. Police recovered 11 PREPAK demand letters signed by the outfit’s self-styled ‘Revenue Chief’ Changkhonba Meitei, along with a mobile phone from his possession.

In another operation conducted the same day, security forces arrested an active cadre of the NRFM outfit, Ningthoujam Thoiba Meitei alias ‘Ton’ (27), from the Chekon Crossing area under Porompat Police Station. He is originally from Khumujamba Leikai under Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur district and was currently residing at New Checkon in Imphal East district.

Meanwhile, a rebel from KCP (PWG), identified as Khulem Shyam Singh (23), was arrested from Langol Laimanai under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district. A resident of Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai in Imphal East district, he was found in possession of two mobile phones and an Aadhaar receipt.

In a separate operation, security forces also arrested a hard-core rebel from the KYKL outfit, Toijam Sanamani Meitei (48), from Nongda Makha Leikai under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. He is a resident of Nongda Awang Leikai in the same district.

Police have registered separate cases in connection with all the arrests and further investigation is underway.------------
