
Bhubaneswar, 13 May (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday hailed the approval of the Puri–Koraput Express, describing it as a landmark achievement in the state’s rapidly expanding railway sector.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said Odisha’s railway infrastructure is witnessing rapid transformation and unprecedented growth, with the new train service expected to significantly improve connectivity between coastal, western, and southern parts of the state.
According to Majhi, the Puri–Koraput Express will open up new opportunities for travel, tourism, trade, and economic development across the region.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their continued support towards strengthening railway infrastructure and connectivity in Odisha.
He stated that the Centre’s commitment to railway development is playing a crucial role in enhancing transportation facilities and accelerating economic progress in the state.
The approval of the Puri–Koraput Express is being viewed as a significant step in improving regional connectivity, particularly linking pilgrimage, tourism, and tribal-dominated regions of Odisha.
The development is expected to benefit passengers from several districts by providing improved rail access and boosting socio-economic activities across the state.
