Bhubaneswar, 13 May (H.S.): The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to organise a large-scale e-bike rally in Bhubaneswar on May 18 to welcome party president Nitin Nabin during his first visit to the state after assuming office.
The rally will start from the Bhubaneswar airport and culminate at Jatani, where a training camp for BJP workers and leaders has been scheduled.
Senior BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan said the e-bike rally is being organised in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation and reducing unnecessary expenditure amid global economic challenges.
“We are planning a massive e-bike rally to welcome the BJP president. The initiative also reflects the party’s commitment towards promoting sustainable and cost-effective transportation,” Pradhan told reporters.
He added that the proposal for the rally was approved during a preparatory meeting held at the BJP state headquarters .
Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal said the visit of Nitin Nabin is aimed at energising party workers and strengthening the organisational structure ahead of upcoming political activities in the state.
Apart from addressing party leaders and workers at the training camp in Jatani, Nabin is also scheduled to attend meetings of the BJP core committee and the state council of ministers in Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida are also expected to participate in the meetings.
Political observers view Nitin Nabin’s visit as significant, especially as Odisha gears up for the three-tier panchayat elections scheduled to be held early next year. The visit is expected to provide momentum to the BJP’s grassroots organisational strategy in the state.
