(HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Guwahati to
witness the swearing-in ceremony of Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is taking his oath
for another term as Assam Chief Minister. The high-profile ceremony marked the
beginning of the new administration and was attended by key NDA officials. Yogi
Adityanath attended the ceremony with other prominent BJP officials, including
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Yogi Adityanath and
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid their respects at Guwahati's Kamakhya
Temple before to the event. The event kicks off the new term for Assam's NDA
government, led by Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all
the esteemed dignitaries who took oath for ministerial positions in Assam
today. I am fully confident that all of you will be committed to the cause of
public welfare and to building a 'Developed Assam-Prosperous Assam-Secure
Assam'. May the grace of Maa Kamakhya make your tenure illustrious—this is my
prayer,” mentioned Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a post on X.
“Heartfelt congratulations to Shri @himantabiswa Ji
on taking the oath of office as Chief Minister of Assam once again. I am fully
confident that, under the successful guidance of the esteemed Prime Minister
Shri @narendramodi Ji, the 'Ashtalakshmi' vision will gain new momentum through
your dedicated efforts. Under your 'resolute' leadership, Assam will become a
global center for the unique harmony of 'heritage and development.' From the
banks of the mighty Brahmaputra, may the resolve for Antyodaya be fulfilled,
and may Assam scale new heights in security, good governance, and 'cultural
renaissance'—this is my prayer to the divine Mother Kamakhya, the embodiment of
power. Infinite best wishes for your successful tenure,” he added.
According to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh
government, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the swearing-in ceremony
for the NDA administration led by Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on Tuesday.
Himanta Biswa Sarma took the oath of office as Chief Minister of Assam in front
of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Adityanath sent his best congratulations to
the newly elected chief minister and cabinet members. When Adityanath arrived
at the airport, local artists greeted him with musical performances and dancing,
as is traditional. According to the statement, a large throng applauded and
chanted as the UP CM arrived at the airport, and he expressed his gratitude
with folded hands. Apart from Sarma, four MLAs took oaths as ministers: BJP's
Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog, AGP's Atul Bora, and BPF's Charan Boro.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the
oath of office to Sarma and the four ministers during a grand ceremony at
Khanapara's Veterinary Ground. Aside from Modi, union ministers Amit Shah,
Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Sarbananda Sonowal, Pabitra Margherita, chief
ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, and BJP president
Nitin Nabin attended the swearing-in ceremony. The oath-taking event marks the
third straight NDA government in the state. Neog, Bora, and Boro were members
of Sarma's initial cabinet, while Teli, a former Union minister, returned to
state politics. The portfolios of freshly appointed ministers have yet to be
made public.
