Dharamshala, 12 May (H.S.): In the high-scoring IPL 2026 match played on Monday in Dharamshala, young all-rounder Madhav Tiwari stole the show with his versatile performance. The 22-year-old, making his full IPL 2026 debut, delivered outstanding contributions with both bat and ball, powering Delhi Capitals (DC) to a thrilling 3-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS). He was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant display.
Punjab Kings batted first and posted 210 for 5 in 20 overs. Priyansh Arya smashed a explosive 56 off 33 balls for the team. However, Delhi's young bowler Madhav Tiwari dismissed him, delivering a major blow to Punjab. Madhav claimed 2 wickets for 40 runs in his 4 overs. He also sent Cooper Connolly back to the pavilion with a slower bouncer.
Post-match, Madhav Tiwari said, “First of all, I want to thank the team management for giving me the opportunity. When things are not in your hands, you have to keep improving in every practice session. I worked extensively on my bowling with bowling coach Munaf Patel sir and on range-hitting with batting coach Ian Bell.”
He added, “I consider myself 100 percent a bowler and 100 percent a batsman.”
Chasing 211, Delhi Capitals reached 216 for 7 in 19 overs to seal the victory. Captain Axar Patel and David Miller scored half-centuries, guiding the team to the win. Axar Patel completed his fifty with a boundary.
Madhav Tiwari also impressed with the bat, remaining not out on 18 off just 8 balls, including two fours and a six. His quick cameo proved crucial to Delhi's triumph.
This chase also became the highest successful run chase ever at the Dharamshala ground. With this win, Delhi Capitals have kept their playoff hopes alive.
