Lucknow, 12 May
(HS): STRIVE India, Society for Transformative Research, Integration and
Veterans Empowerment, organised a talk on “OPERATION SINDOOR 2.0: Lessons,
Strategy and Prognosis” at HQ Central Command, Lucknow on Tuesday. The talk was
delivered by Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM (Retd), former Army
Commander, Western Command. Having commanded Western Command during Operation
Sindoor and its aftermath, he provided an authoritative overview of one of
India’s most decisive military responses. Senior serving and retired military
officers, defence analysts, veterans and distinguished guests attended the
event.
In his address, Lt Gen Katiyar stated that
OPERATION SINDOOR was a significant validation of India’s evolving joint
warfare doctrine. He said the seamless synergy between the Indian Army, Indian
Air Force and Indian Navy, enabled through the Integrated Air Command and
Control System, demonstrated that jointness has moved from concept to
operational reality. He highlighted that integrated command and control enabled
real-time threat identification and response across multiple domains. He also
underlined the Indian Army’s crucial role in deterrence, territorial control
and operational readiness throughout the operation.
Lt Gen Katiyar also spoke on India’s recalibrated
deterrence posture, multi-domain operations, intelligence-led warfare and the
importance of political will in enabling swift and effective military action.
Looking ahead, Lt Gen Katiyar stressed the need to internalise the lessons of
OPERATION SINDOOR across the Armed Forces. He said future conflicts would be
shaped by emerging technologies such as drone swarms, electronic warfare, cyber
operations and hypersonic weapons. He emphasised continued technology infusion,
absorption and adaptation within the Armed Forces.
In his closing remarks, Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta,
GoC-in-C, Central Command, commended STRIVE India for organising a timely and
meaningful discourse. He said such engagements strengthen professional
reflection within the military and veteran community. He reaffirmed the Indian
Army’s commitment to learning from every operational experience and maintaining
readiness to meet all challenges to national security.
Lt Gen Sengupta
also paid homage to all ranks of the Indian Army who participated in OPERATION
SINDOOR and acknowledged their courage, professionalism and dedication to duty.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion on the lessons of OPERATION
SINDOOR and its implications for India’s future security environment.
