Thiruvananthapuram, 12 May (H.S.):Uncertainty continues over the announcement of this year’s Kerala SSLC examination results as the State is yet to form a new government following the Assembly elections. Although the results were earlier scheduled to be published on May 15, officials have not yet taken a final decision on whether the declaration will proceed as planned on Friday.

Sources in the General Education Department said the valuation process and all related procedures have already been completed. The Examination Board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to give final approval to the results. However, confusion remains over who will officially announce the results in the absence of a new Education Minister.

Officials said that once the Board approves the results, at least one more day is generally required to complete the formal procedures before publication. Based on this schedule, preparations had already been made at Pareeksha Bhavan for a May 15 announcement.

The uncertainty has arisen mainly because the State currently does not have a newly sworn-in government or a minister handling the General Education portfolio. In 2021, the SSLC results were announced by the General Education Secretary under similar circumstances. Officials indicated that a comparable arrangement could be considered this year as well, though no final decision has been taken.

Administrative changes in the department have also added to the uncertainty. General Education Principal Secretary K. Vasuki has been transferred to Lok Bhavan, while Sharmila Mary Joseph has taken charge as Secretary. Director of General Education N.S.K. Umesh is also overseeing key departmental responsibilities.

Sources said the General Education Secretary and the Director may jointly decide on the formal announcement process once the Board completes its proceedings. Meanwhile, major central boards, including CBSE, have already declared their results, heightening anxiety among students and parents across Kerala.
