
Agra, 12 May (HS):
A major accident occurred at Balkeshwar Ghat in Agra on Tuesday morning. Six
young men and women drowned along with a teenager after jumping into the Yamuna
River in the scorching heat. Seeing them all drown together, panic gripped the
ghat. A large crowd gathered at the scene. Locals immediately informed the
police, following which the local police and a relief team arrived.
Police and local divers immediately started rescue
operations. After a lot of hard work, five young men and women were pulled out
of the Yamuna. Three of them were sent to the emergency ward of SN Hospital for
treatment as their condition was serious, where two young men and one young
woman died. On receiving information about the incident, the family members
also reached the spot. They are inconsolable. After searching for two hours in
the Yamuna, the body of the teenager was also found. Seeing the body of the
teenager, the family members started crying.
DCP City Syed Ali Abbas said that 19-year-old Mehak
daughter of Kalicharan, 22-year-old Kanha son of Rinku Singh, 20-year-old Anshu
daughter of Kalicharan resident of Kunjanpur, Police Station Sadabad and
17-year-old Riya daughter of Manoj, 11-year-old Vicky son of Rakesh had come to
take bath in Yamuna. DCP said that Mehak, Riya, Kanha, Kajal, Anshu have been
taken out of Yamuna river. All of them were sent to SN Hospital's emergency for
treatment, where Kanha, Mehak and Riya died during treatment. Vicky's body was
also taken out from Yamuna.
The family has been in a state of shock since the
incident. Upon learning of the accident, a large crowd gathered at the scene.
After much effort, when the body of 11-year-old Vicky was pulled out, the
family members erupted in tears.
After many
prayers, we had a son... Vicky's father broke down on the banks of the
Yamuna River: Rakesh, the father of Vicky, who is missing in the Yamuna River,
said that it was Vicky's aunt's daughter's birthday. Family members had gone
there last night. Today, around 11 a.m., all the children went to take a bath
in the Yamuna River together without informing anyone. He said that after four
daughters, we had a son after a great prayer, but God took that too away.
