Guwahati, 12 May (HS): Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Charan Boro on Tuesday took oath as minister in the newly formed BJP-led NDA government in Assam for the second term, delivering the oath in the Bodo language during the swearing-in ceremony held in Guwahati.

Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy in the presence of senior NDA leaders and dignitaries.

The ceremony also witnessed Himanta Biswa Sarma taking oath as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term after the NDA alliance registered a decisive victory in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

Born on July 1, 1979, Charan Boro is a senior BPF leader and represents the Majbat constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly. He has been serving as MLA from the constituency since 2016, was lost the election in 2021. He again won the same seat in by-election in 2025 and became transport etc. minister in Himanta Government.

A native of Rangagarah in Udalguri district, Boro is the son of Nabin Boro and Ampuli Boro. Over the years, he has remained actively associated with the Bodoland People’s Front, a regional political party advocating for the interests and welfare of the Bodo community in Assam.

Boro’s induction into the NDA government is being viewed as a significant representation for the Bodoland region in the state cabinet.------------
