Guwahati, 12 May (HS): NDA nominee for the post of Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Ranjeet Kumar Das on Tuesday expressed confidence that the BJP-led alliance would continue to govern Assam for the next 15 years under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Addressing reporters in Guwahati ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new government, Das described the occasion as a “fortunate day” for the state and said the people of Assam had once again entrusted Sarma with the responsibility of accelerating development.

He stated that the presence of nearly 20 chief ministers from different parts of the country at the ceremony highlighted the importance of the event and reflected the growing stature of Assam at the national level.

Projecting confidence in the BJP’s political future, Dass asserted that the party would return to power in Assam in 2031 as well. He claimed that the government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma would continue to serve the state for the next 15 years.

Reacting to his nomination for the Speaker’s post, Das said he felt honoured by the trust placed in him by the chief minister for such an important constitutional responsibility.------------
