Lucknow, 11 May
(HS): The Yogi government is
continuously setting new standards in the field of higher education in Uttar
Pradesh. Once limited to B and B-plus grades in the NAAC (National Assessment
and Accreditation Council) rankings, the state's universities are now
establishing a new identity across the country by achieving A++, A+, and A
grades. The Yogi government's next goal is to secure national and international
rankings for the state's degree colleges. To this end, workshops are being
organized for degree college principals to encourage them to achieve rankings.
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay stated at a press conference in the
Assembly that the government's focus will no longer be limited to universities.
In the next phase, the goal is to secure NAAC and other national rankings for
the state's degree colleges as well. To this end, special workshops are being
organized for college principals and teachers, educating them on how to achieve
rankings by improving quality, research culture, digital education,
infrastructure, and student facilities.
The
Higher Education Minister stated that special emphasis is being placed on
increasing college student numbers, developing curricula in accordance with the
new education policy, and promoting employment-oriented education. The Yogi
government's goal is to make the state's higher education system nationally
competitive and in line with global standards. He stated that Uttar Pradesh is
now not only the state with the most universities, but is also rapidly
progressing towards becoming a leading center for quality higher education.
Higher
Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyaya stated that under the leadership of Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state's higher education system has undergone
extensive changes. He noted that before the Yogi government came to power, most
universities in Uttar Pradesh were limited to B or B-plus grades in the NAAC
rankings, and none in the state were in the A category or higher. He explained
that special workshops were held for universities under the leadership of
Governor and Chancellor of Universities Anandiben Patel. These workshops
provided guidance to universities on improving quality, research, digital
resources, teaching systems, and the academic environment. As a result, seven
universities in Uttar Pradesh have achieved NAAC A++ rankings, while four have
achieved A+ and two have achieved A grades. He added that while previously a B
grade was considered an achievement, today the state's universities are
achieving new levels of excellence.
The Higher Education Minister stated
that not only this, but Uttar Pradesh's universities are now making their
presence felt on the international stage as well. Previously, the QS World
Rankings were not even mentioned in the state, but now two universities from
the state have been included in the QS World Rankings, while six universities
have secured positions in the QS Asia Rankings. Additionally, three universities
have reached the UGC Grade-1 category.
