Bhubaneswar, 11 May (H.S.): Odisha has emerged as the leading state in the ongoing national census exercise, with over 90 per cent of house listing work already completed across the state, said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Monday.
Reviewing the progress of the enumeration process, the Minister stated that Odisha is currently ranked at the top in the country in terms of census implementation and is expected to maintain its leading position in the coming phases of the exercise.
He informed that nearly all districts in the state have recorded significant progress in house listing activities, including remote and border regions. According to official data shared by the Minister, more than 90 per cent of the census work has been completed in Odisha so far.
Highlighting district-wise progress, Pujari said that in Koraput district, over 90 per cent of enumeration work has been completed. In Kotia region, the process has reportedly achieved 100 per cent completion, marking a significant milestone in the exercise.
The Minister further added that house listing operations have also been fully completed in the border districts of Gajapati and Balasore. These achievements, he said, reflect the efficiency and coordination of field-level administrative teams engaged in the census drive.
Pujari noted that Odisha’s strong performance demonstrates effective planning and execution by the state administration, positioning it as one of the best-performing states in the country in the ongoing census process.
