efforts to protect adolescent girls from serious illnesses

Prayagraj, 11 May

(HS): As part of the Uttar Pradesh

government's public awareness and vaccination campaign to prevent the rapidly increasing

incidence of cervical cancer in women, HPV vaccination drive will be held at

MLN Medical College and SRN Hospital on Wednesday, May 13. The program will

begin at 11 a.m. at SRN Hospital's 1/66 Immunization Clinic. The state

government is consistently prioritizing women's health and the safety of

adolescent girls. In this regard, the HPV vaccine is considered an important

step toward preventing serious diseases like cervical cancer. According to

medical experts, HPV (human papillomavirus) infection is the primary cause of

cervical cancer in women, and timely vaccination can prevent 90 to 95 percent

of cases.

The

chief guest of the event will be MLA Harsh Vardhan Bajpai. The program will be

presided over by Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Pandey, Principal of MLN Medical College,

while Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Singh, SIC of SRN Hospital, will be the special guest.

Prof. (Dr.) Khurshid Parveen of the Department of Community Medicine will

educate attendees on HPV infection, symptoms of cervical cancer, prevention,

and the importance of vaccination.

This

campaign is being organized specifically for girls aged 14 to 15. According to

the hospital administration, it will be necessary to bring the girl's Aadhaar

card, the guardian's Aadhaar card, and her mobile number for vaccination.

Dr. Abhishek Tiwari, the program's nodal

officer, stated that cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer in

women, but it can be largely prevented through awareness and timely

vaccination. He appealed to parents to come forward to ensure their daughters

benefit from this campaign. Medical experts believe that such public health

campaigns, run by the Uttar Pradesh government, will further strengthen women's

health protection in the future and help raise awareness about cancer in both

rural and urban areas.
