Kolkata, 11 May (H.S.) : Former West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress leader Sujit Bose appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on Monday in connection with the alleged recruitment scam case. This marks his first appearance before the central agency after the declaration of the Assembly election results on May 4.
Bose arrived at the ED office at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake accompanied by his lawyer. According to ED sources, he has been summoned for questioning in connection with the alleged irregularities in recruitment processes.
The Bidhannagar MLA had earlier appeared before the agency on May 1. Prior to the elections, the ED had issued multiple summonses to Bose. However, he had informed the court that he was unable to appear due to election-related responsibilities.
Following directions from the Calcutta High Court, Bose later appeared before the agency for questioning.
Earlier, central investigators had conducted searches at Bose’s residence, office, and a dhaba allegedly linked to his family. The ED had also summoned his son, Samudra Bose, along with other family members, and recorded their statements as part of the investigation.
Responding to the repeated summonses earlier, Bose had maintained that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had already filed a chargesheet in the case and that his name did not figure in it.
