Kolkata, 11 May (H.S.) : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday chaired a high-level administrative review meeting at Nabanna on his first working day in office, underlining the new government’s focus on law and order, governance and administrative coordination across the state.

Soon after arriving at Nabanna, the Chief Minister was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour in the presence of Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariala, Director General of Police Sidh Nath Gupta, Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand and other senior administrative and police officials.

Later, Adhikari shared details of the meeting through a post on social media X, stating that he had reviewed the prevailing law and order and administrative situation in West Bengal with the state’s top bureaucratic and police leadership.

“Held a high-level Administrative Review Meeting at Nabanna today with Chief Secretary Shri Dushyant Nariala (IAS), Home Secretary Smt. Sanghamitra Ghosh (IAS), DGP Shri Sidh Nath Gupta (IPS), and CP Kolkata Police Shri Ajay Nand (IPS) to take current stock of the Law & Order and Administrative situation in the State of West Bengal,” the Chief Minister said in his post.

He further said that discussions during the meeting focused on key administrative priorities aimed at ensuring “the safety and prosperity of every citizen in West Bengal”, while asserting that the government remained committed to “transparent and efficient governance”.

According to sources in the state administration, the Chief Minister is scheduled to hold a series of meetings throughout the day. Apart from the first Cabinet meeting of the new BJP government, Adhikari is also expected to interact with district magistrates and senior police officers, including zonal heads and top officials of the state police administration.

Before leaving for Nabanna, Adhikari met BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya at the party’s Salt Lake office. After the meeting, Bhattacharya stressed that the new dispensation would function as the “Government of West Bengal” and not merely as a party-run administration, indicating an emphasis on governance and implementation of policy commitments made in the party’s election manifesto.
