Fatehpur, 10 May
(HS): Krishna Paswan, a three-time BJP MLA from Khaga assembly seat in Fatehpur
district of Uttar Pradesh, has been made a minister of state in the Yogi
government. She was sworn in as a minister in the cabinet expansion held on
Sunday.
Krishna Paswan was born on August 1, 1963 in
Pilkhini village of Fatehpur and is mainly associated with agriculture. Before
entering politics, she worked as an Anganwadi worker. She was elected MLA from
Khaga seat in 2002, 2012 and 2022. In 2022, he defeated SP candidate by about
5500 votes. Before becoming a minister, she was made the chairperson of the
Joint Committee on Women and Child Development of the UP Legislative Assembly.
This cabinet expansion emphasized ethnic balance and female representation.
Krishna Paswan comes from the Dalit community. At the same time, the government
also wants to answer the opposition by giving a chance to a woman MLA after the
Nari Shakti Vandana Bill.
Krishna Paswan has
been vocal against corruption in the region. In February 2026, she himself uprooted
the road with a shovel after finding substandard construction in the
Aimapur-Ratanpur road and stopped the work. She had also conducted surprise
inspections and reprimanded officials over farmers' complaints at paddy
procurement centres. There is a wave of happiness among the BJP workers of
Khaga assembly constituency and Fatehpur district after the news of Krishna
Paswan becoming a minister. Party functionaries described it as a move to
uplift women and give respect to Dalit society.
