(HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commemorated the 169th
anniversary of the First War of Independence on Sunday by paying tribute to
independence warriors and referring to the 1857 revolt as a people's movement
and a symbol of India's self-respect, fortitude, valour, sacrifice, and
independent awareness. He also honored the martyrs who took part.

self-respect and sacrifice. He frequently pays honor to victims from Lucknow
and Meerut, emphasizing that the rebellion was the first big resistance of
British authority. He commemorated the 169th anniversary of the
insurrection, emphasizing that these rebels' sacrifices serve as an inspiration
to the country.
In a post on X, he mentioned, “On the anniversary
of the historic 'Struggle for Independence' of 1857, the first clarion call of
Indian freedom, humble tribute to all the immortal martyrs and valiant
revolutionaries of Mother India. This great battle was that bold and organized
endeavor to shatter the chains of subjugation, which ignited the eternal flame
of freedom across the entire nation. The supreme sacrifice of all known and
unknown revolutionary heroes who offered their all for the defense of the
motherland will continue to inspire us toward national service for ages to
come.”
