
Bhubaneswar, 10 May (H.S.): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Odisha, forecasting widespread rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across various parts of the state.
According to the latest bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely in one or two locations in all districts. The IMD has issued an Orange Warning for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
These areas are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and surface winds reaching 50–60 km/h during the afternoon and evening. Officials caution that these conditions may result in localized severe weather impacts.
Additionally, a Yellow Warning has been issued for several other districts, including Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. In these regions, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 km/h are anticipated. The weather office advises residents to remain cautious, avoid open areas during thunderstorms, and heed safety advisories issued by local authorities as the system develops over the next few days.
