Bhubaneswar, 10 May (H.S.): A PhD scholar of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bhubaneswar) died on Sunday after allegedly falling from the sixth floor of a hostel building inside the campus.

The deceased has been identified as Tanikonda Nishant Kumar, a research scholar from the Electrical Engineering department. He was originally from Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources , security personnel found him critically injured after the fall and immediately shifted him to the institute’s medical facility for emergency treatment. As his condition worsened, doctors referred him to a private hospital for advanced care. However, he was declared dead on arrival.

Following the incident, Jatni Police reached the campus and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the fall. The exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.
