Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt congratulations to To Lam on Tuesday for his election as President of Vietnam.

PM Modi expressed confidence that under Lam's leadership, the friendship between India and Vietnam will further strengthen.

In a post on the social media platform X, he voiced optimism about collaborating with President Lam to advance the progress and prosperity of both nations and the region.

He emphasized that India-Vietnam ties will grow even more robust in the future, opening new avenues of cooperation.

Notably, To Lam, aged 69, was unanimously elected by Vietnam's National Assembly during its 16th session for a 2026-2031 term, committing to serve five years on the post.

Following the election, he took the oath of office on Tuesday as per the constitution, pledging unwavering loyalty to the country, its people, and the constitution.
