Hailakandi (Assam), 07 April (HS): With just a day left for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday (last day of the election compain) said that Assam has returned to peace under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is now moving rapidly on the path of development.

Addressing a series of election rallies in Hailakandi and Silchar, Shah campaigned extensively in support of BJP candidates. He attended a public meeting in Hailakandi in favour of BJP candidate Dr. Milon Das and later campaigned in Silchar for Dr. Rajdeep Roy and in Udharbond for candidate Rajdeep Gowala.

In his address, the Home Minister asserted that under Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has become stronger and no external force can harm the country. He said that development activities in Assam have gained significant momentum under the BJP government and the state will be developed on par with other progressive regions of the country.

Shah further stated that the BJP envisions taking Assam to greater heights in the next five years and has already implemented key initiatives such as distribution of land pattas and establishment of a medical college in Sribhumi. He added that several more development plans are in the pipeline for the state.

Highlighting regional development, Shah emphasized that Silchar will be further strengthened as a key urban centre so that people do not have to depend on Guwahati for essential services. He also assured that farmers in the state will receive enhanced benefits and support under future government initiatives.----------
