Bhubaneswar, 06 April (H.S.) : The district administration has sealed the Shyam Metallics factory in the Rengali area of Sambalpur following directives from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) over alleged environmental violations.

The company faced accusations of causing air and water pollution, illegally creating ash mounds, and encroaching on land near a water body. The CPCB had issued closure orders on March 30 due to non-compliance, but the factory reportedly failed to implement any corrective measures.

On Monday morning, officials from the district administration and CPCB carried out the sealing operation. In the presence of security personnel, the main gate of the factory was locked, and the entire plant was sealed. Only office-related work is permitted to continue, with employees allowed entry and exit upon presenting valid identity cards.
