6 April (HS): General Manager, Naresh Pal Singh, presented the performance and key

achievements of North Central Railway for the financial year 2025-26. General

Manager stated that North Central Railway recorded notable progress across key

functional areas during FY 2025-26. Focused efforts in improving operational

efficiency, strengthening safety systems, expanding infrastructure, enhancing

freight performance, and augmenting passenger amenities have contributed to an

overall improvement in service delivery. He further emphasized that the

adoption of modern technologies, innovation-driven initiatives, and improved

inter-departmental coordination have played a crucial role in making railway

operations safer, more reliable, and passenger-centric.

Key

Achievements of North Central Railway in FY 2025–26: North Central Railway

achieved its highest-ever originating loading of 20.97 million tonnes, marking

a 12.6% increase over the previous year, generating freight revenue of Rs. 2276 crore. Punctuality of Mail/Express trains improved to

79.1%, an increase of 9.3% over the previous year. A total of 42 new train

services were introduced, including 2 originating trains.

pairs of trains were converted from ICF to LHB coaches, and 6 pairs from ICF to

MEMU rakes. To enhance passenger convenience, 46 new stoppages were provided,

12 trains were extended, and frequency of 2 trains was increased. 31 additional

coaches were augmented in 14 pairs of passenger trains. 470 trains were

operated as “Train on Demand” services, completing 3,140 trips based on passenger

demand. During Magh Mela 2026, 804 special trains were operated.

Due

to strong performance in coaching and freight sectors, total originating

revenue reached Rs.

6001.60 crore, reflecting a 4.0% increase over the previous year. Prioritizing safety,

the ‘Kavach’ system was implemented over 270 km, and loco trials were completed

over 520 RKM. Infrastructure strengthening included completion of 52.35 km

doubling, 55.266 km third line, and 27 km gauge conversion. Additionally, 223

km of automatic signalling and electronic interlocking at 16 stations were

commissioned. For road safety, 22 level crossing gates were interlocked and 23

level crossings were eliminated.

Wagon

Workshop, Jhansi achieved a record outturn of 8,350 wagons, the best in Indian

Railways. CMLR Jhansi and RCNK Jhansi exceeded their coaching maintenance

targets.

Rail

Coach Renovation Workshop, Jhansi successfully completed SS-1 maintenance of 2

Vande Bharat trainsets for the first time. Under green initiatives, Miyawaki

plantation was carried out over 500 sq. meters. With installation of 9.05 MW

rooftop solar plants, total solar capacity increased to 21.75 MW. Scrap sales

generated revenue of Rs.

316.87 crore, exceeding the target by 15.23%. All recruitment processes are being

conducted through a centralized Computer-Based Test (CBT) system, ensuring

transparency and timeliness.

robust infrastructure, and passenger-centric services.
